Not everyone may know that TPL is a committed and enthusiastic partner in the Reading Room, a fabulous children's library located in the Hospital for Sick Children. Along with a teacher-librarian from the Toronto District School Board and a host of hospital volunteers, our staff offer storytimes, reader's advisory, and book delivery right to any patient's room! The Reading Room is well stocked with materials to suit babies, children, and teens, and decorated with fanciful origami created by our resident origami artist, and original picture book art donated by many Canadian (and a few U.S.) illustrators. Pediatricians at this forward-thinking institution consider literacy to be a health determinate. Well, we knew all along that reading was good for us, right? Please come and visit if you are ever in the neighbourhood.
