Kensington Market has Pedestrian Sundays on the last Sunday of each month. - Check it out if you're free this Sunday, or later in September or October. They make for enjoyable informal outings: there are often giant chess or Scrabble games laid out on the street (the Scrabble uses big "lino" floor tiles for the letter tiles). I've happened upon impromptu dances and musical performances, and even a game of bicycle-polo! And, of course, there's wonderful people-watching too.
Baldwin and Mirvish Villages have also started their own Pedestrian Sunday events. Dates on the Pedestrian Sunday website above.
