New iBistro tips - revised!

Suggest to users that they create a screen name for themselves. This means that the screen will clearly show that they have indeed logged in. Mine says "Welcome, Frances". However, users may choose any screen name, provided it has no spaces between words, e.g. poweruser

The Help pages for the catalogue say this:

Why doesn't my name display at the top of the screen when I'm signed in?
You need to choose a screen name to display. You can enter your preferred screen name in the Account Settings section of your account. This option allows you to protect your privacy when accessing your library account in public places.

To create the screen name, the user must log in to their account. Go to Your Account. Go to Account Settings. The first option is setting a screen name. Click on Submit. Try it yourself!

Another neat thing - users can create holds for items that they have missed. In their account, in the Holds section, expired holds are listed with a Place a Hold button. Just 20 minutes after the launch, I helped a patron do this and was she a happy camper!
