Children's author and illustrator Loris Lesynski came by Sick Kids on the afternoon Thursday the 17th as part of the Sumer Reading Program to share her poems and pictures with us. She showed us a lot of pictures and also demonstrated how printers put pictures in books using only four colours. She showed us a picture that she had used 17 different colours to make and then showed how printers get the same result by putting down one at a time, shades of yellow, red, blue and black.
She also had pictures that she had done in Grade 1 and some of her writing from Grade 3 (Her grade 3 handwriting is better than my grownup handwriting!) She also read us some of her poems and got everyone chanting along, and snapping their fingers to verses from Boy Soup, Dirty Dog Boogie, Zig Zag, and other books.
